Protecting the Desert Princess
November 2014 -
One World Trade Centre (nicknamed the ‘Freedom Tower’) officially opens in Manhattan, New York, 13 years following the 9/11 attacks.
Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson release their hit single ‘Uptown Funk’ which topped the charts in 19 countries and was certified platinum 11 times.
Kim Kardashian ‘breaks the internet’ with her scandalous Paper Magazine cover which sees her balancing a champagne glass on her derriere.
And Carol Marinelli releases ‘Protecting the Desert Princess’…
When someone wants to read my books and asks where to start, this is the one I usually recommend. I think it shows the variety in the Presents/ Modern line and that the heroes and heroines are all unique.
I loved Layla so much and she made me laugh so many times while writing (though she had Mikael tearing his hair out). It wasn’t just me that loved her – this was no lonely heroine, she had a family, in fact an entire country, who all completely adored her, yet she ran away to fulfil her bucket list. Layla wanted to hold hands, dance, smoke a joint and taste an Irish Coffee before she settled down with the husband of her father’s choice.
She *must* return a virgin and I had a whole lot of fun working my way around that haha.
My favourite part was Mikael waking up to Layla peering over him and thinking he was late for court. ‘What time is it?’ he asked.
‘It is sunrise.’
That still makes me laugh and I think it is also a nod as to how I would like to live
Mikael was soooo sexy. A barrister, he defended the most indefensible people and Layla chose her target wisely and lands herself on him. *Whisper* he asks how she is going to pay for his services (he’s expensive) and she hands him a huge precious stone. Even my impassive hero had to hold back a smile!
